Synopsis
Un coche fúnebre recorre las calles de Medellín, mientras un joven director cuenta su pasado en esta ciudad violenta y conservadora. Recuerda la preproducción de su primera película, una cinta de serie B con fantasmas. La joven escena queer de Medellín es elegida para la película, pero el protagonista principal muere de una sobredosis de heroína a los 21 años, al igual que muchos amigos del director. Anhell69 explora los sueños, las dudas y los miedos de una generación aniquilada, y la lucha por seguir haciendo cine.
A funeral car cruises the streets of Medellín, while a young director tells the story of his past in this violent and conservative city. He remembers the pre-production of his first film, a B-movie with ghosts. The young queer scene of Medellín is cast for the film, but the main protagonist dies of a heroin overdose at the age of 21, just like many friends of the director. Anhell69 explores the dreams, doubts and fears of an annihilated generation, and the struggle to carry on making cinema.
About the director
Theo Montoya, originario de Medellín, Colombia, es director, director de fotografía y productor. Es fundador y director de la productora Desvio Visual, dedicada a la creación de cine de autor y experimental. Su primer cortometraje, Hijo de Sodoma, formó parte de la Selección Oficial de Cortometrajes del Festival de Cannes 2020 y de muchos otros festivales del mundo. Con esta película ha ganado varios premios, entre ellos el Gran Premio del festival de cine Drama de Grecia, el de mejor cortometraje documental en Interfilm Berlín, y obtuvo una mención especial del jurado en el concurso Labo de Clermont Ferrand. ANHELL69 es su primer largometraje, una coproducción colombiano-rumana-francesa-alemana, cuyo estreno mundial tuvo lugar en la 37ª Semana de la Crítica de Venecia (79º Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia).
Theo Montoya, originally from Medellín, Colombia, is a director, cinematographer and producer. He is the founder and director of the production company Desvio Visual, which is dedicated to the creation of auteur films and experimental films. His first short film, Son of Sodom, was part of the Official Short Film Selection at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival and many other festivals around the world. With this film, he has won several awards, including the Grand Prix of the Drama film festival in Greece, the Best of short Documentary in Interfilm Berlin, and got a special Jury’s Mention in Clermont Ferrand’s Labo Competition. ANHELL69 is his first feature film, a Colombian – Romanian – French – German co-production, having its world premiere at the 37th Venice Critics’ Week (79th Venice International Film Festival).
